DVD Movie Review: The Hunting Party - "Only the most ridiculous parts are true"

"The Hunting Party" is written and directed by Richard Shepard, based on a true story as originally told in an Esquire article, “What I Did on My Summer Vacation” by Scott Anderson, starring Richard Gere (Simon Hunt), Terrence Howard (Duck), and Jesse Eisenberg (Benjamin) as the protagonists. Released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and the Weinstein Company. Running time: 103 minutes -

"In theory, the official hunt for the war criminals in Bosnia continues to this day... However, the two most wanted men, Radovan Karadzic and Rtoco Mladic – continue to elude the U.S., the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, The Hague and all in the civilized world who claiming to be looking for them.

In the ten years that Radovan Karadzic has been on the run, he has published two books and one play. Perhaps if the International Community opened a summerstock theater... but they are probably too busy "searching" for Osama Bin Laden.

You should also know that the United States took out several full page Wanted ads in the local Bosnian papers to show the world it was serious about catching these war criminals ... of course, they listed an 800 number that could be only used in America."

As I said, we are not authorized to arrest war criminals

You are the international police, right?

Yes. Under the flag of the United Nations.

I thought the UN was looking for war criminals

We are. Aggressively.

There’s a $5 million reward, you know?

But you said you don’t have an indictment list

We don’t

You are journalists on a story

I’m sorry. Are you still insinuating we are a CIA hit squad or something?

I’m sorry. Are you still insinuating you’re journalists?

Dating Humor – 'Eyes'

"Hey, yesterday, I met someone."
     "What’s he like?"
"Not bad, but not sure."
     "Send me his photos."
(emails photos)
"What do you think? "
     "Mmm… likely an honest person."
"How can you tell?"
     "Do you have sense?"
"Often makes me a fool."
     "Just look into the eyes."
"Which photo?"
     "All three."
"Well of course all of them have eyes!"

Poem in Art: Let me not to the marriage of true minds... - William Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand’ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

- William Shakespeare

Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is.

I search for Love’s footsteps,
as many do,
scattered along the pageless B.C.,
between the lines of modern times,
into future history dotted on silicon chips,
stretching in an infinite space.

Zuckerman Fights Murdoch for Newsday

"Mortimer B. Zuckerman, the owner of The Daily News, believes he can snatch Newsday from Rupert Murdoch without offering a dime more than the $580 million already on the table.

News Corporation executives believe the only regulatory scrutiny their deal would receive would be from the Justice Department, regarding to whether combining Newsday and The Post would be anticompetitive.

On this point, Newsday’s circulation overlaps more with The Daily News than with The Post.

However, Mr. Murdoch owns two television stations in the New York area (WNYW and WWOR) and is already in the process of seeking waivers from the F.C.C. to continue to control television stations and newspapers in the same market. "

Poem in Art: When the lamp is shattered... - Percy Bysshe Shelley

Poem in Art: When the lamp is shattered... - Percy Bysshe Shelley

When the lamp is shattered
The light in the dust lies dead;
When the cloud is scattered,
The rainbow's glory is shed.
When the lute is broken,
Sweet tones are remembered not;
When the lips have spoken,
Loved accents are soon forgot.

As music and splendour
Survive not the lamp and the lute,
The heart's echoes render
No song when the spirit is mute: --
No song but sad dirges,
Like the wind through a ruined cell,
Or the mournful surges
That ring the dead seaman's knell.
