Apr 7, 2016 ABC robot crawls out of 3-D printer It's alive! Researchers at MIT create robot that can literally crawl out of the 3-D printer. This 3-D hexapod robot moves via a single motor, which spins a crankshaft that pumps fluid to the robot’s legs. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab have created a 3-D printing process that in a single run can create a six-legged solid and liquid robot that can literally crawl out of the printer. With the exception of its battery and motor, everything within the robot is made in a single printing run, including all of the hydraulic liquid-filled tubes that help the robot move.

4 April 2016 'Death from overworking' claims hit record high in Japan Claims for compensation for karoshi – the Japanese word for death from overworking, rose to a record high of 1456 in the year to end-March 2015, according to labour ministry data, with cases concentrated in healthcare, social services, shipping and construction, which are all facing chronic worker shortages… the real number was probably 10 times higher. Kawahito, a lawyer who has been dealing with karoshi since the 1980s, said 95 per cent of his cases used to be middle-aged men in white-collar jobs, but now about 20 per cent are women.
a baby crocodile decided to climb onto the head of a hapless frog The incredible moment a baby crocodile decided to climb onto the head of a hapless frog has been captured by an awe-struck industry manager. The foot-long baby crocodile can be seen clambering onto the back of a Javan treefrog, who turned the tables on this normally fearsome predator by mounting the reptile's head. Local manager Tanto Yensen took the pictures while out walking in Tangerang, Indonesia.
'Sad' Sir Richard Branson sells Virgin America to Alaska Air Billionaire Richard Branson says there was 'nothing he could do' to stop Alaska Airlines from buying Virgin America because he's British... but he'll pocket a cool $786 MILLION in the deal.
The head of Virgin Group said that he felt ‘sadness’ after Virgin America was bought by Alaska Airlines under a $2.6 billion deal (£1.8 billion); the $786 (£550 million) million payout is equivalent to one seventh of Sir Richard’s entire $5.1 billion (£3.7 billion) fortune; the takeover means that in just 18 months Sir Richard’s stake has more than doubled in value.
Sir Richard Branson has complained about having to sell his US airline - even though it will make him more than $786 million (£550 million). The head of Virgin Group said that he felt ‘sadness’ after Virgin America was bought by Alaska Airlines under a $2.6 billion deal (£1.8 billion). The companies put the transaction's value at about $4 billion, since Alaska will also be taking on Virgin America's debt and aircraft operating leases. Despite his massive windfall Sir Richard said that there was ‘nothing I could do to stop it’ because he did not own enough shares with voting rights in Virgin America.
The $786 million payout is equivalent to one seventh of Sir Richard’s entire $5.1 billion (£3.7 billion) fortune and will swell his coffers considerably. His Virgin Group owns about 30 per cent of Virgin America after floating it on the stock market in 2014 with a value of nearly $1 billion (£650 million.) The takeover means that in just 18 months Sir Richard’s stake has more than doubled in value.
