Poem in Art: When the lamp is shattered... - Percy Bysshe Shelley
When the lamp is shattered
The light in the dust lies dead;
When the cloud is scattered,
The rainbow's glory is shed.
When the lute is broken,
Sweet tones are remembered not;
When the lips have spoken,
Loved accents are soon forgot.
As music and splendour
Survive not the lamp and the lute,
The heart's echoes render
No song when the spirit is mute: -
No song but sad dirges,
Like the wind through a ruined cell,
Or the mournful surges
That ring the dead seaman's knell.
- Percy Bysshe Shelley
This is really good poem which has great meaning. I have a hobby of collecting the poems and I want to save it to my collections. I have collected so many poems at https://rushmyessays.blogspot.com/">rushmyessay.com. In this site, you are always posting the interesting poets of great people which are really good.
This is a nice poem but the line where it states 'the light in the dust lies dead' worries me. I am thankful for the commercial suppliers who can help out with the lighting for my house.
