10000 mile chase of world most notorious poaching vessel "Thunder". Sea Shepherd's 110day " Ocean Warriors: Chasing the Thunder"

(quote)

Ocean Warriors: Chasing the Thunder is a Vulcan Productions high-seas documentary about the Sea Shepherd’s epic 110-day, 10,000-mile chase of the "Thunder," considered the world’s most notorious poaching vessel. Across two seas and three oceans, the marine activists hunted the fugitive fishing ship through massive ice floes, storms-tossed seas, a near collision and violent clashes until the Thunder dramatically sank, burying the evidence of its crimes on the bottom of the South Atlantic.

The chase of the Thunder started in the "Shadowlands", the ice fields of the Southern Ocean, and lasted 110 days. From beginning to end it was a harrowing journey. Captain Peter Hammarstedt and his team faced daunting odds but surged forward.

Captain Sid Chakravarty, Captain Hammarstedt and the rest of the crew have worked aboard the Sea Shepherd to fight illegal fishing and help save our ocean’s wildlife. "For the past 10 years, Sea Shepherd has been defending whales in the Southern Ocean," said Hammarstedt. "This year we’re defending Patagonian and Antarctic toothfish." Toothfish are coveted by poachers because they are known as Chilean Sea Bass in restaurants throughout the north. They are flaky, delicious and very expensive. "The fact that these fish live in the most remote waters in the world makes these poachers feel like they can get away with anything," said Chakravarty. Captain Chakravarty ultimately joined the mission with his additional Sea Shepherd vessel.  read more »

Panda is panda! By nature enjoys climbing even sleeping on trees. Panda couple gets ELECTRIC SHOCK from wire fence. Not harmed?

Panda couple Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan get ELECTRIC SHOCK after zoo in Taiwan put up a wire fence inside their enclosure
Two giant pandas, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, received electric shock from a wire fence in their enclosure in Taiwan earlier this week.

PANDA stuck up a tree! Bao Bao the cub made for higher ground after getting a shock on electric fence
It's usually cats being coaxed down from trees.
But famed panda cub Bao Bao is currently sky-high in the branches at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. after being spooked by an electric safety fence in her enclosure.
Apparently the one-year-old touched the charged barrier on Tuesday afternoon and the shock caused her to shoot above ground to safety.

Bravo! Rescue mission accomplished! Elephant Mom&Aunt (no words exchanged) spring into action, save calf from drowning

June 21, 2017 - Bravo! Rescue mission accomplished! Elephant Mom and Aunt (no word exchanged!) spring into action to save calf from drowning in pool
After a baby elephant fell into a pool at a zoo in South Korea, two adult elephants came to save the day. Video from the incident shows the calf, Hope, drinking from the pool next to her mom before falling over the edge and into the water at the Seoul Grand Park Zoo.

Hope's aunt saw what was happening from the other side of the pool, and was seen lumbering over to help. The two adults rushed into the pool and worked together to lead Hope in the right direction, guiding the calf to a shallow end of the pool where it could climb out. Zoo officials said no elephants were injured.

Amazing! The in-time action, rescue mission is beautifully done without the convenience of language - no single word could be yelled out for help, or exchanged for rescue coordination.

Robot beats 'I am not a robot' Captcha test, proud of its success... "Deal with it."

(quote)

Jan. 27, 2017
Robot beats 'I am not a robot' Captcha test A mechanical robotic arm managed to circumvent a computer password system meant to deter "robots." YouTube user Matt Unsworth shared video of the robot, outfitted with a pair of googly eyes, as it used a stylus pen to check an "I am not a robot" Captcha security box.

The tounge-in-cheek video pokes fun at the language used by the security verification system intended to prevent spam or computer automated extraction of data from websites.

The robotic arm slides the stylus up the computer mouse pad before just barely managing to click inside the on-screen check box which proceeded to swirl into a green check mark.

Proud of its success, the robotic arm turns toward the camera and drops the stylus as an animated pair of glasses fall upon its "eyes" alongside the phrase "Deal with it."

"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin."US National Park Service turns 100(1st park,Yellowstone, signed into law in 1872)

Yellowstone National Park

Extended Preview of Ken Burns documentary series on PBS, THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICAS BEST IDEA. The 12-hour, six-part documentary series, directed by Burns and co-produced with his longtime colleague, Dayton Duncan, who also wrote the script, is the story of an idea as uniquely American as the Declaration of Independence and just as radical: that the most special places in the nation should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone.

On August 25, 2016, the National Park Service turned 100
The centennial celebrates the achievements of the past 100 years, but it is really about the future. It’s about kicking off a second century of stewardship for America’s national parks and for communities across the nation. Most importantly, it’s about inviting you to join us. We all have a role to play in ensuring that future generations of Americans will be able to enjoy the thrilling experiences of nature and wildlife, history and culture, and the spirit of adventure that is waiting at every national park.  read more »
